Abiquo 1.6 — available now — is the latest release of Abiquo’s flagship enterprise Cloud management software.

This release includes industry-standard APIs for Cloud administration and Cloud services consumption, which speeds Cloud adoption by enabling enterprises to leverage existing resources. Other key features include extended vendor independence support and enterprise-class network management and multi-datacenter remote services.

Multi-home Networking
Enable network security zones across multiple hypervisors without expensive add-on software. Get unrestricted network addressing, unlimited virtual NICs per VM with user-friendly naming, and control over how VMs are configured for network access. Plus, deploy multiple remote locations and automatically check out and assign proper DHCP addresses for that geography from a single console. Advanced multi-home networking support including support for 802.1Q VLAN model with trunking, multiple virtual NICs per VM, multiple virtual LANS (VLANs) per virtual datacenter, named networks, fully configurable address space, support for DHCP relays, customizable physical NICs per host, new workload policy management based on VLANs availability.

These new capabilities are added to Abiquo’s existing network management capabilities including the ability to identify, purchase and assign public IP addresses at a targeted location as well as the ability to centrally track all networks running in virtual enterprises.
Citrix XenServer Support Eliminate vendor lock-in with support for all 6 major hypervisors including Citrix XenServer. Out-of-the-box support for Citrix XenServer including virtual-to-virtual (V2V) conversion.
Cloud Operator API Integrate with third party products and service to cost-effectively deploy and manage growing Cloud resources centrally. Cloud Operator API - inspired by Sun Public Cloud (Resource Cloud API) - enables an Operator to run a dynamic, scalable cloud that is configured based on automated capacity rules.
Industry Standard Image Migration Enables unattended migration from one virtualized environment to the Cloud. OVF image management via Cloud Resource API; utilize a script – with built-in error checking - to quickly migrate images to the Cloud.
Multi-datacenter Remote Services Provides global overview of entire infrastructure and manages remote deployments. Multi-datacenter remote services enables deployment to multiple datacenters without any special high-end infrastructure requirements. Supports replication on top of high-speed/low-latency networks.
LVM/iSCSI Provides additional storage connection and management options. Supports LVM/iSCSI which is compatible with Red Hat iSCSI targets. This Storage connector is ideal for small deployments or testing environments.
