The Changing Business Model of Service Providers
Cloud computing is driving innovation in many ways; especially for service providers, who are using this as an opportunity to further differentiate themselves in the market. One example of this innovation is a service provider called CARI.net, which has developed a model that allows any customer to automatically resell their hosted services. CARI.net has been providing this service for a while, but wanted to extend the model to resell hosted cloud resources. After testing numerous solutions, they chose Abiquo, and have since sold a hosted cloud using the Abiquo management platform to their customer, Solasus Web Solutions. Solasus, in turn, is reselling these hosted cloud services along with value-add services to it’s customers. This interview discusses this innovative business model and what successes each are seeing as a result.
