Role-based Empowerment for Application and Development Teams
Empowerment is the key requirement for the application and development teams that consume cloud resources, but the right level of empowerment based on the group, role and experience of users is essential. With Abiquo, suitably authorized users have the ability to deploy virtual appliances, machines, storage and networking in seconds – without IT intervention, dramatically increasing agility, while making temporary projects and “what/if” scenarios a reality.
Virtual Enterprises
For the most sophisticated, Abiquo provides autonomous virtual enterprises, limited only by the cloud resources each is permitted to consume. Virtual enterprise administrators manage their own users and roles, and sub-divide their allocated resources into virtual datacenters, each managed by any combination of users.
Abiquo’s unique vApp Canvas allows definition of complete applications, each consisting of anything from a single virtual machine, to a complex combination of firewalls, load balancers, servers, virtual networks and storage - all managed as a single unit, and deployable without the need to involve IT operations at any stage in the process.
Abiquo’s image library makes centrally managed VM images available to all virtual enterprises and datacenters as a service catalog, as well as managing private image instances and persistent image volumes.
Comprehensive role-based access control allows user functionality to be simplified and/or restricted as desired, giving just the right balance of empowerment versus complexity according to each user’s needs.
Best of all, Abiquo supports all six of the major hypervisor types simultaneously. Select the hypervisor best suited for your application in terms of functionality or cost, and convert virtual machines to run on a different hypervisor in a single drag-and-drop operation. It really is that simple!
Provisioning Portal
Abiquo’s simple provisioning portal can be used for self-service provisioning of virtual enterprises, virtual datacenters and pre-built virtual appliances. Suitable for even novice users, the provisioning portal is highly configurable, customizable and extensible to meet your exact requirements.
The portal provides a comprehensive pricing model, allowing users to understand the exact cost of the environment they are creating, and to adjust it to meet budgetary requirements, before they proceed.
An optional approvals process, with full email integration for both requestor and approver, is available. Third party applications can pass optional parameters to auto-fill forms if desired.
The provisioning portal uses Abiquo’s application programming interface (API), which is available to all authorized users, allowing integration with existing systems.
