More control over VMs, Blueprints and AWS networking
Abiquo today launches the latest version of its cloud management platform – Abiquo 3.8.1.
Version 3.8.1 of the Abiquo hybrid cloud solution introduces three new major features:
Hot Add and Hot Reconfigure of Virtual Machines
Abiquo 3.6.x introduced CPU and RAM hot-add options for VM templates on ESXi hypervisors so that users could reconfigure VMs directly in the hypervisor. Abiquo 3.8.1 introduces hot-add in the Abiquo user interface, hot-reconfigure of NICs and remote access, as well as hot reconfigure to add or remove SCSI disks. After these options are enabled, users can reconfigure (using the Abiquo UI or API) a virtual machine that is ON or PAUSED without powering it off.
Control over deployment locations for App Blueprints
Released with Abiquo 3.8, Virtual Appliance Specifications (“VApp Specs”) enabled users and admins to create application blueprints with complete configurations including VMs, networking, firewall policies and more. Users can deploy Specs to datacenters other than the one in which the Spec was created, and Abiquo 3.8 allocates resources and helps the user resolve issues such as missing templates.
Abiquo customer requested additional control, so Abiquo 3.8.1 introduces the ability to limit the locations in which a Spec can be deployed.
Additional networking options for AWS integration
Abiquo 3.8.1 supports multiple IP addresses for VMs through the AWS integration. Users can onboard existing virtual machines with multiple IP addresses and create multiple IP addresses through Abiquo, including multiple Elastic IPs. In previous versions Abiquo supported one elastic network interface with one private IP address and one elastic IP address per instance.
Abiquo 3.8.1 supports the number of IP addresses supported by the AWS hardware profile (instance type). Read more…
Now if the user adds multiple IPs in the same subnet, Abiquo adds them to the same elastic network interface. And if the IPs are in a different subnet, Abiquo adds them to a different elastic network interface.
