Abiquo 5.1 is here
Save time and money by reducing management complexity, offer different network SLAs to your customers, improve the usability of Hardware Profiles and much more.
Abiquo aims to make cloud management simpler, easier and more focused on each company-specific needs.
Deploy VMs faster than ever
Configuring and deploying VMs can take much longer than your users would like, and often requires a significant level of technical expertise, costing your company both time and money, as do many other repetitive tasks your IT organization has to deal with on a daily basis. Wouldn’t it be great to organize all those tasks in an optimized way to speed delivery of vital resources, save employee time and improve usability?
Abiquo helps companies save valuable time and reduce management complexity by automating these tasks.
Abiquo 5.1 enables users to deploy VMs even more quickly and easily, giving your company a competitive advantage by speeding up your IT processes, so helping allocate employee time more efficiently and effectively to dedicate it to what your users really need.
You can now start the deployment process from anywhere in the Abiquo platform, while improved user workflow makes the process more intuitive with useful default options, with easy selection templates and the ability to optionally edit VM configuration before deployment if required.

Self-service VM snapshots, the safe way
Cloud platform users often look for a way to ensure that data is safe while performing maintenance or other one-off tasks, and look to IT teams to take care of this with solutions such as backups on demand and VM snapshots. Each of these comes with a downside though; Backup on demand requires restore on demand to be really effective, while snapshots can create performance issues and can easily get out of control. This is particularly true in a multi-user and, even more, a multi-tenant cloud environment.
Abiquo v5.1 supplements the existing scheduled and on-demand backup and restore functionality with new self-service VMware snapshots. Users can take snapshots and roll them back on demand, while configurable scheduled auto-consolidation ensures that workloads do not run from snapshots indefinitely.
The platform helps in a visual way too, displaying the snapshots with the regular backups, since users really don’t differentiate between the two.
This way, Abiquo helps your users to get the benefit of your investment in backup and VMware solutions without the risks and drawbacks.
Get more control over your public clouds
Monitoring and tracking your public cloud resources will help your company reduce costs and standardize IT processes at the same time.
Companies need public cloud management to be simpler, easier and more focused on their unique needs, with tools available to customize cloud management processes to deliver competitive advantage.
Abiquo’s new version 5.1 delivers on that vision.
To help your company to easily reach that goal, managing virtual datacenter networks won’t be a headache anymore. Abiquo 5.1 introduces a new way to customize your network elements.
Now, you will be able to create and specify the address range for the VDC to use as part of a custom private network configuration.
A new tab has been created that will make address range management easier than ever! Create, synchronize, and delete address ranges from the updated, simplified and reorganized tab, all in one place!
Virtual Datacenters Management
Using virtual datacenters helps reduce costs and also better manage the servers’ performances.
Having a good management system helps you work more efficiently and also that is intuitive and easy to use.
Abiquo 5.1 incorporates new capacities to help users organize better their infrastructure between clouds. Now, a new filter by providers makes it easier for users to find virtual datacenters.
You can choose to display virtual datacenters in private cloud hypervisors and/or individual public cloud providers.

Use VM Hardware profiles across multiple cloud providers more easily
Some public cloud providers insist on using hardware profiles – predefined combinations of VM resources – as the basis for a virtual machine’s configuration. However, each provider has their own terminology, often creating long lists or complex familial relationships which are hard for users to comprehend.
Private cloud platforms based on VMware, KVM and others do not natively offer hardware profiles, but rather present users with a free choice of CPU and RAM. Abiquo has long offered the option to use hardware profiles in private cloud to mirror your public cloud providers. Now, Abiquo 5.1introduces hardware profile families and types to improve the organization of HPs and helps customers with usage hints to select the perfect HP. This feature also allows users to select a similar Hardware Profile between clouds, as in the App specs feature, facilitating easy deployment of a defined application blueprint on all your clouds.
Now, the platform provides a helpful description of the family and the type of hardware profile so that it is even easier to choose the hardware profile when creating the VM.

Save your company money by setting bandwidth limits
Your company can now not only save money but also offer different network SLAs to your customers, which gives you another way to monetize your network.
Abiquo 5.1 enables the user to set a bandwidth limit in a virtual datacenter for each Public IP using Quality of Service (QoS traffic shaping) parameters. This feature applies to public IPs in infrastructure and managed by NSX in vCenter and vCenter clusters.

New in Abiquo 5.1.2
Abiquo 5.1.2 is now available offering your company and customers the best multi cloud experience, adding a raft of new features and enhancements to give you new efficiency and revenue opportunities.
VMs with duplicate names in different datacenters
Abiquo, unlike some other CMPs, has always allowed multiple VMs with the same display name – we call it the “VM Label”. Under the hood each VM has a unique ID, but some DR solutions duplicate the VM ID when creating a replica. Now, Abiquo allows admins to Capture (or “onboard”) a VM in a private cloud when another VM with the same name already exists in a different datacenter!
This is a foundation for the new Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) feature that Abiquo will introduce in upcoming versions.
As a bonus, you can use multiple Abiquo datacenters with one Veeam server and backup VMs with duplicate names!

Support for VMware vSphere 7
Support for VMware vSphere 7 for vCenter hosts, vCenter clusters, and ESXi hosts is one of the top new enhancements you can now take advantage of. We’ve added support for WebMKS, giving you a more secure option for remote access to VM consoles in ESX environments.
